Outlook on the web – Only the first image attachment prints correctly; subsequent images fail with blob ERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND

Hello Microsoft Community,

We have encountered a reproducible issue when printing multiple image attachments from the same email in Outlook on the web (Microsoft 365).

Issue description

When an email contains multiple image attachments (e.g., PNG or JPG files):

  1. Open the email in Outlook on the web.

Click the first image attachment and select Print.

The print preview opens normally, and the image can be printed.

Return to the same email and open a second image attachment.

Select Print again.

Instead of displaying the image, the print preview shows a small broken-image icon.

The same behavior occurs with subsequent image attachments.

Troubleshooting performed

Microsoft Edge: Issue reproduced.

Google Chrome: Issue reproduced.

InPrivate/Incognito mode: Issue reproduced.

Changing the order of the attachments: The issue does not appear to be specific to one image file.

Closing and reopening the preview: Can temporarily restore normal printing.

Downloading the attachments and printing them locally: Works correctly.

This suggests that the original image files are valid and that the issue may be related to Outlook on the web's attachment preview or printing functionality.

Browser DevTools observations

Using the Network tab in Chrome DevTools, we observed:

GetAttachmentThumbnail requests returning HTTP 200.

Several blob:https://outlook.office.com/... image resources loading successfully.

Subsequent blob: requests failing with:

net::ERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND

Two failed requests referenced the same blob URL and were initiated by Outlook Web JavaScript bundles (owa.*.js).

This may indicate an issue with temporary blob URL handling or resource lifecycle management during consecutive printing operations. However, the root cause has not been confirmed.

Environment

Application: Outlook on the web (Microsoft 365 / Exchange Online)

Operating system: Windows 11

Browsers tested: Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome

Date observed: October 26, 2026

Questions

Is this a known issue or regression in Outlook on the web?

Has Microsoft identified any problems with printing multiple image attachments consecutively?

Is there an official workaround or planned fix?

Should this be reported through Microsoft 365 Admin Center support as a potential product defect?

We can provide anonymized screenshots of the print preview and DevTools errors if needed.

Thank you for your assistance.

    Dear @FAISAL BENTOUHAMI ,

Good day! Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum!

Based on the information shared, it appears that the image files themselves are not affected, as they can be downloaded and printed successfully outside of Outlook on the web.

Since the issue occurs across multiple browsers and even in private/incognito sessions, this may indicate an issue related to Outlook on the web's attachment preview or print rendering process rather than a browser-specific problem.

To help narrow down the scope, could you please confirm the following:

    • Does the issue occur for all users in your organization or only specific users? If they access the same email and attempt to print the attachments, do they experience the same behavior?
    • Is the behavior reproducible with newly received emails, or only with certain messages?
    • Does the issue occur with all image types (PNG, JPG, JPEG), or only specific formats?
    • Does the issue occur when using a different device or operating system?

As a temporary workaround, downloading the image attachments locally before printing may help avoid the issue while the issue is being investigated further.

If the behavior continues and can be consistently reproduced, I would recommend opening a support request through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center and providing the collected browser logs, screenshots, and reproduction steps. This will allow the support team to further analyze whether the issue is related to a service-side defect or a known product issue.

Kindly let me know when there are updates or if you need further assistance. Any updates you’re able to share would be really helpful.

I'm here and happy to help! Thank you for your kindness and patience!
