Hello.

On outlook for mac, from what I can tell it is impossible to cancel the sending of a scheduled email without deleting the email and writing it again. Does the option exist? If not this seems like a shortfall that should be remedied.

Open the scheduled message in Drafts and select Cancel Send; Outlook keeps the message open so you can edit it, send it immediately, or schedule it for another time without deleting and rewriting it.^1^

Cancel a scheduled email

  1. In Outlook for Mac, open the Drafts folder.
  2. Open the scheduled message.
  3. Select Cancel Send.
  4. Select Yes to confirm.
  5. Modify the open message as needed, then either:
    • select Send to send it immediately, or
    • use the arrow beside Send → Schedule Send to choose another delivery time.

If “Cancel Send” is not available

Schedule Send—including its cancellation workflow—requires:

  • A supported Outlook edition, including a Microsoft 365 subscription, Outlook 2019 for Mac, or Outlook 2021 for Mac. Check via Outlook → About Outlook.
  • An Exchange-based account, such as Outlook.com, Microsoft 365, or Exchange 2016 CU5 or later.
  • It is not supported for POP or IMAP accounts, including Gmail, Yahoo, and iCloud accounts configured through those protocols.^1^

For ordinary messages where only a brief cancellation window is needed, Outlook also provides Undo Send under Outlook → Settings → Composing, with a delay of 5–120 seconds. This delays transmission rather than recalling an already-delivered message.^2^
