Reset Zoom Level in Reading Pane in New Outlook on Mac?

I somehow managed to zoom out in the reading pane only, so that the email body is displayed smaller than normal. I thought I had used the CMD and - shortcut to zoom out, but this does not work anymore.

Now I cannot find a way to reset the zoom level. Using shortcuts such as CMD and +/- doesn't seem to work, and I could not find anything in the settings, either.

I can pinch to zoom, but then the text will overflow the screen area and I have to scroll to the side to view the whole message.

When I compose a new message, the zoom level is normal.

I'm using New Outlook on Mac (Version 16.114 (26101123)).

Have I maybe missed something? Thank you for your help!

For Outlook on Mac, the supported way to change reading pane text size is from the message view itself, not from Outlook settings.

Try these steps:

  1. Select an email message in Mail.
  2. On the Format menu, choose Increase Font Size or Decrease Font Size.
  3. If keyboard shortcuts are preferred, use:
    • Command + Plus (+) to increase the display size of text in an open message or in the reading pane
    • Command + Hyphen (-) to decrease it

If the reading pane text size looks wrong only for one folder view, Outlook for Mac also supports changing the font size for all messages in the selected folder temporarily:

  1. Select a message in the folder.
  2. Under Format, select Increase Font Size or Decrease Font Size.
  3. That change applies to all mail in the selected folder or subfolder, and reverts to the default when navigating away from the folder.

If the display still appears incorrect or incomplete, force close and reopen Outlook. If that does not help, reset the account in the app:

  1. Open Outlook.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Select the email account.
  4. Choose Reset Account.
