Hi,

I have received this email. I dont know how this is going to affect our billing

You're receiving this notification because you're associated with one or more Azure subscriptions that use Standard SSD for managed disk transactions. For reference, you can find this notification in the Azure portal under Service Health/Health advisories using tracking ID: MQR7-KK0.

Starting on 3 December 2026*,* we’ll be changing the maximum paid transactions per hour for Standard SSD managed disk transactions. This change reflects ongoing improvements in our product portfolio and better aligns with evolving workload patterns.

How do i know what disk I am paying for ?

    Hi,

You can see list of Disks for your current subscription using below link in Azure portal:

    https://portal.azure.com/#view/Microsoft_Azure_StorageHub/StorageHub.MenuView/~/DisksBrowse

Check Storage type column, and see if any are Standard SSD. These are the disks that the email applies to.

For LRS, they have doubled the maximum hourly paid transactions. If you take a look at Managed Disk pricing page, scroll down to Standard SSD pricing chart (SKUs begin with E, e.g. E1,E2,E3,E4,E6,etc.), then look at the Max transaction price per month (this is what could double in worst case), and the Max total price per month columns.

The prices that are on pricing page now are the current prices, not the new prices.

What you are charged depends on how many transactions you are performing on your Standard SSD disk(s). If you constantly have lots of transactions (read, write, etc.) then you will see an increase.

For example, say you have 128GiB Standard LRS SSD in East US. The current monthly max total price at Pay-As-You-Go pricing would be $31.10. After December 3 the monthly max total price would be $52.60.

Please keep in mind most people do not use maximum transactions in my experience. That is typically only if you have very IO-heavy workload that is constantly busy all month.

To calculate actual expected increase in your case you would need to look at how many transaction you have had over the past several months and then calculate based on the new maximums. The FAQ on the pricing page has explanation of how to calculate it, screenshot excerpt below:
