Submit another recovery request using only accurate information you can document, because Microsoft does not provide a separate manual ownership-verification process and support agents cannot reset the password or change account details for you.
Make the next recovery attempt count
Since the Sign-in Helper and recovery form have already failed, do not repeat them unchanged. Microsoft permits up to two recovery submissions per day.^1^
Before submitting again, collect:
- The original sign-in email/alias and any old aliases or phone numbers.
- Previous passwords, including older ones.
- The approximate account-creation date and usual country/region.
- The device and network normally used to access Minecraft.
- Minecraft migration messages and purchase receipts.
- Order number, purchase date, payment provider, and last four card digits if available.
- Emails from Microsoft about security changes. Legitimate Microsoft account notifications use the
@accountprotection.microsoft.comdomain.^2^
Complete the form from a familiar device and location if possible. Do not invent answers for Outlook, Xbox, or Store fields that never applied; inaccurate information will not help verification.
Contact support—but understand its limitation
Open Microsoft customer support, select the Personal account path, describe the issue as “compromised account; primary alias changed”, and request Contact Support or chat if offered.^3^
You can also use Windows 11:
- Open Start, search for Get Help, and launch it.
- Enter Microsoft account compromised and sign-in alias changed.
- Select Contact Support if displayed.
- Choose the affected product/service, confirm the routing details, and select chat or callback if available. Contact methods vary by scenario, operating hours, and subscription.^4^
Provide the agent with the original address, attacker-controlled address, Minecraft receipt/order details, and dates. However, Microsoft explicitly states that support agents cannot send password-reset links or access and change personal-account details.^3^ Contact is therefore useful for confirming the correct recovery route or reporting the compromise, but it is not a guaranteed manual override.
Escalate the Minecraft entitlement separately
Because Minecraft is the important purchase, contact the Minecraft Support team and ask whether any alternatives exist for the migrated game entitlement. Include the original Mojang purchase receipt, migration confirmation, Minecraft username, transaction/order ID, and original Microsoft account address. A Microsoft Q&A moderator specifically recommends this separate route when account recovery fails, while noting that Minecraft recovery is not guaranteed.^5^
Do not post receipts, email addresses, transaction IDs, or attacker details publicly in Q&A.
If access is restored
Before changing the recovered account’s password, run Windows Security → Virus & threat protection → Scan options → Full scan → Scan now. Microsoft recommends scanning first, then changing the password and reviewing account settings.^6^
Afterward:
- Use a new, unique password.
- Add multiple recovery methods.
- Enable Microsoft Authenticator or two-step verification.
- Review aliases, security information, connected accounts, forwarding, and automatic replies.
If repeated recovery submissions still cannot establish ownership, neither Q&A participants nor support agents can bypass the verification decision; recovery may no longer be possible.
