Hey everyone. A few months ago (June 27th) I got hacked and I recieved an email saying that my passkey was changed. Ever since then I've been trying and trying to get back into the account but it's like it doesn't even exist. I was even able to make a new account with the same email. The odd thing is that the account still kind of exists because I'm signed into it on this current device. Though whenever I try to do anything I get error 0x80048820.

I've tried everything at this point. And I've even gotten this back from Microsoft themselves
At Microsoft, safeguarding your account is a top priority. We have thoroughly investigated the account and billing activity associated with your Microsoft account. Based on this review, we’ve confirmed that unauthorized access occurred.

During the investigation, we discovered that the security information on your account had been changed. Due to our strict security protocols and the terms outlined in the Microsoft Services Agreement, we are unable to modify or restore the security settings once they’ve been updated.

Am I just out of luck? Do I give up and try and come up with a new username that I just use on Microsoft? There has to be some way to prove that I'm the actual owner of the account.

I wish I had better news for you, this forum is just a user to user forum, for security purposes, no-one here has any account access, when a Microsoft account is hacked, if the hackers change the associated data like the Email or if 2FA is enabled on the account, the account is usually no longer recoverable and if their support indicates the account cannot be recovered, that account is lost.

If you use that hacked account to log into your PC, it would be best to create a new user profile on your PC and transfer your files into the new user profile, to ensure you do not get locked out of your PC.
