Using Outlook for iOS for personal email and calendar management
Try these checks in order for Outlook on iPhone and Outlook.com:
- Check whether the messages are in another view or folder.
- In Outlook.com, check Focused and Other if Focused Inbox is enabled.
- Check Junk Email, Deleted Items, Archive, and any custom folders.
- Search across the whole mailbox, not only Inbox.
- Check Deleted Items.
- If the missing messages are there, select them and restore or move them back to Inbox.
- If they are not there, in Deleted Items select Recover items deleted from this folder and look for the missing mail.
- Important limits for recovery.
- Messages removed from Deleted Items are recoverable for 30 days.
- In Outlook for iOS or a mobile browser, messages removed from Deleted Items can’t be recovered there; use a computer to do that.
- Messages in Junk Email are automatically removed after 30 days and aren’t recoverable.
- Check account activity.
- If the mail disappeared unexpectedly, review recent sign-in activity for the Microsoft account to see whether there was unusual access.
- If the missing mail is not in Deleted Items, Recover items deleted from this folder, Junk Email, Archive, Focused/Other, or search results, the available self-service recovery in Outlook.com has been exhausted.
- If help is still needed, use Outlook.com support from the Help menu or the Outlook.com Community.
Since the missing mail is only visible from Oct 13, 2026 onward on the iPhone, checking the mailbox in Outlook.com on a computer is the best next step because mobile recovery is limited.
