Hello Microsoft Support,

I purchased a new ASUS ExpertBook P1 with Intel Core i5 14th Gen and a 512 GB SSD. The Microsoft Store shows Office Home 2024 under “Included with device.”

However, when I click Claim, Microsoft Word opens but displays “View Only (Unlicensed).” The activation process also shows the error “Sorry, something went wrong.” Windows is activated, Office is fully updated, and I have tried signing in again. However, Office Home 2024 does not appear under my Microsoft account’s Services & subscriptions.

Please help me claim and activate the Office Home 2024 licence included with my laptop.

Thank you.

Check if there is additional information on the Asus support site.

    Hello,

The problem might be with the Microsoft Store cache or with the network settings.

    1

Close all applications if they are running.

Then, press Windows + R, type wsreset.exe, and click ok.

This will open the Microsoft Store app.

    2

Connect your device to another Wi-Fi network, such as a mobile hotspot network.

Then, in the Microsoft Store, go to Library > Included with Device, then click 'Claim'.

This will open the Microsoft Office app, such as Word, to activate Office.

See if you can claim the Office product successfully now.

If you are still having issues,

Run the network reset commands in the Command Prompt (Admin) window.

    netsh winsock reset

    netsh int ip reset

    netsh advfirewall reset

    ipconfig /flushdns

    ipconfig /release

    ipconfig /renew

Restart your computer and try activating Office applications.

    Use this order:

    1. Confirm the correct Microsoft account
      • In Word, go to File > Account and sign out of any accounts shown.
      • Close all Office apps, reopen Word, and sign in with the same Microsoft account used when trying to claim the included Office.
      • Then check Services & subscriptions. If the Office product is not listed there, that account is not associated with the Office license.
    2. Check for multiple Office installs
      • Open Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
      • Search for office.
      • If more than one Office version is installed, uninstall the version not being used.
      • Restart the PC, open an Office app, and try signing in again.
    3. Run an Online Repair
      • If only one Office install is present but activation still fails, run an Online Repair for Office, then restart and try activation again.
    4. Use the Update License flow again
      • In an Office app, open File > Account > Update License.
      • If Couldn't update license appears, this is commonly caused by being signed in with an account other than the one that has the license.
      • After restarting the apps, check Product Information under File > Account to see which license is currently in use.
    5. Check basic activation blockers
      • Verify date, time, and time zone are correct in Windows.
      • Try running Word as administrator once.
      • If the device uses a proxy, go to Settings > Network & internet > Proxy and review those settings.
    6. If the license still does not appear in Services & subscriptions
      • For ASUS devices with Office included, the accepted guidance in a similar case is to contact ASUS with the laptop serial number and proof of purchase so they can verify the bundled license.
      • Do not buy another license yet.
    7. If Office still shows Unlicensed Product after all checks
      • Use Microsoft support contact options from the Office activation article.
