Unable to Contact Azure Billing Support – Unexpected Free Trial Charges

Hello,

I signed up for the Azure Free Trial and did not knowingly agree to continue with a paid subscription.

I have received an unexpected invoice of €2.31 and have additional unbilled charges of approximately €2.06.

I have deleted my Azure resources, but I cannot cancel my subscription because the portal requires payment of the outstanding invoice.

I have repeatedly attempted to create a billing support request, but the Azure Portal keeps redirecting me to automated troubleshooting without providing an option to contact a support agent.

I would like to request a manual review of these charges, a waiver of the outstanding balance if possible, and assistance with canceling my subscription.

Could you please help me reach the appropriate Azure Billing Support team?

Thank you.

Select Return to support request on the automated recommendation page, then Next to continue to a billing support agent rather than remaining in the self-help flow.^1^

    Open the billing case

    1. Sign in with the account that owns the affected subscription and open the official Azure billing support request.
    2. Choose the affected subscription and a Billing or Subscription management issue type.
    3. When automated recommendations appear:
      • Do not close the workflow.
      • Select Return to support request.
      • Select Next.
    4. In Problem details, request:
      • A manual review of the €2.31 invoice and approximately €2.06 of unbilled usage.
      • Identification of the resources, meters, and dates responsible.
      • A waiver or credit review.
      • Assistance canceling the subscription after the billing review.
    5. Select the available contact method, complete Review + create, and save the support-request ID.

Azure provides unlimited support for billing and subscription-management matters, so a paid technical support plan is not required.^1^ A waiver is discretionary; only the billing team can review and approve it.

Include the invoice number, subscription name or ID, billing dates, and screenshots showing the cancellation/payment block. Do not put payment-card details, passwords, or other confidential information in the description.

If the form still does not expose agent contact

Check the account used to submit the case:

    • Creating a request requires Owner, Contributor, Support Request Contributor, or a custom role containing Microsoft.Support/* at subscription scope.
    • Because the requested action involves billing information and cancellation, the account must also be the subscription’s account billing administrator.^1^

If this is a personal Free Account created directly through the Azure website, sign in with the original account used to create it. If it belongs to an organization and the required access is missing, its tenant administrator or support-agreement owner must verify the entitlement and access.^2^

    Review the charges before submitting

In the Azure portal, open Cost Management + Billing → Cost Management → Cost analysis, select the affected subscription scope, and review the costs by resource and service. Azure documents that Free Account charges can occur after an account is upgraded when usage exceeds free-service quantities or uses services not included in the free offer.^3^

Do not assume that this explains these particular charges; attach the detailed breakdown to the case so billing support can determine what happened.

    Cancellation and remaining charges

Since the resources are already deleted and cancellation is blocked, proceed with the billing case rather than repeating resource deletion. Deleting resources prevents further resource usage but does not itself cancel the subscription.

After support resolves the invoice restriction, cancel through:

Azure portal → Cost Management + Billing → Subscriptions/Azure subscriptions → affected subscription → Cancel → Cancel subscription

Cancellation stops billing immediately, although pending usage can still appear on the final invoice. After the final subscription is canceled, Azure can close the billing cycle and issue the final bill up to three calendar days later.^4^
