How do I add a PC to my subscription. It works on my laptop now. I tried to sign in from the PC and it did not work. Do I need to uninstall the version on that PC and start over? The PC has Microsoft 365 Enterprise version.

Is Office installed on your PC? You should be able to activate the product by signing in. See https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/accounts-billing/subscriptions/sign-in-to-microsoft-365 .

If some Office product is installed on your PC, but not necessarily the correct one for your license, you can use the Switch License button at File > Account.

If the subscription is Microsoft 365 Personal or Family, a second PC does not need to be manually added. Install Microsoft 365 on the PC by signing in with the same account that is associated with the subscription.

    Steps:

    1. On the PC, sign in to m365.cloud.microsoft/apps.
    2. Select Apps in the left navigation.
    3. Select Install apps in the upper-right.
    4. If a dropdown appears, select Microsoft 365 apps.
    5. Follow the prompts to complete installation.
    6. Open Word or another Office app and sign in with the same account to activate it.

Important points for the current situation:

    • Microsoft 365 is tied to the account, not manually registered to the PC.
    • With Microsoft 365, the apps can be installed on devices and signed in on up to five devices at the same time.
    • If the PC already has Microsoft 365 Enterprise, that version is associated with a work or school account. To use a personal Microsoft 365 subscription on that PC, reinstalling the Microsoft 365 applications may be required.
    • In most cases, installing a newer Office version removes the earlier version automatically, but if installation errors or conflicts occur, an uninstall may be necessary first.
    • If the install option does not appear after signing in with a work or school account, the organization may manage licensing, or the account may not have a license assigned.

For a student migration scenario, Microsoft’s guidance states that moving from Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise to Microsoft 365 Personal requires reinstalling the Microsoft 365 applications that came with the personal subscription.
