    Hi kathiresan rajaram,

I get how frustrating it is when updates keep failing, particularly with WhatsApp. Just wondering, have you also tried the suggestions from AI answer, and what's the results? Those are the basic troubleshooting steps I would generally recommend at the first stage of fixing.

If those make no different, we will need to go deeper. However, it's not quite clear from the description yet, whether the problem is only with updating WhatsApp, or with other apps in Microsoft Store, or Windows Update itself is also failing. Could you please share:

    1. When you try to update WhatsApp in Microsoft Store, what exactly happens?:
      1. Does the download stay pending?
      2. It fails during installation at a number, e.g. 80-90%?
      3. There's an error code/message? Please let me know the exact code.
    2. Are other Microsoft Store apps updating normally, or do they fail as well?
    3. When you mention "some update issues," is it still WhatsApp or Windows Update?

Note: If possible, please share screenshots of the issue(s), but make sure it does not contain personal information.

Microsoft Store app updates and Windows operating-system updates are handled separately. Once we know which one is failing and the exact error you're receiving, we can suggest more specific solutions to that problem rather than basic checks.

For the Windows update issue, try these steps in order:

    1. Restart the PC and try Windows Update again.
    2. Run the Windows Update troubleshooter:
      • Start > Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters
      • Find Windows Update and select Run.
    3. Check free disk space:
      • Windows needs at least 16 GB free for 32-bit or 20 GB for 64-bit upgrades.
    4. Clear the Windows Update cache:
      • Press Win + R, type services.msc, press Enter.
      • Right-click Windows Update > Stop.
      • Open C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution and delete the files and folders inside.
      • Go back to Services, right-click Windows Update > Start.
    5. Check date and time settings:
      • Start > Settings > Time & language > Date & time
      • Turn on Set time automatically and Set time zone automatically, then select Sync now.
    6. Disconnect external hardware not needed for basic use, then try updating again.
    7. Temporarily disable antivirus or firewall if one is installed, then retry the update.
    8. If update files may be corrupted, run System File Checker:
      • Open Command Prompt as Administrator
      • Run: sfc /scannow

For the WhatsApp issue, the available context only shows that WhatsApp problems can sometimes be related to a Windows update or the app version. One reported fix was to uninstall a problematic Windows update from Settings > Windows Update > Update history > Uninstall updates. Another reported step was to reinstall the WhatsApp Desktop package.

If Windows Update starts working after the steps above, try updating or reinstalling WhatsApp again from Microsoft Store.
