A family of Microsoft word processing software products for creating web, email, and print documents.
Hello Snehal Shitole,
Has the answer provided by AI able to help you solve this issue?
In addition to the troubleshooting already suggested, I would like to add some additional troubleshooting steps to better assist you:
- Close any stuck Word processes
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- End any Microsoft Word or WINWORD.EXE processes, restart the computer, and test Word again.
- Install Office and Windows updates
- If another Office application opens, select File > Account > Update Options > Update Now.
- Then open Windows Update, install all available updates, and restart the computer.
- Disable add-ins: If Word opens using
winword /a, select File > Options > Add-ins. Next to Manage, select COM Add-ins > Go, clear the add-ins, and restart Word normally. You can then re-enable them individually to identify the problematic one. - Recover an affected document in a new file: If Word opens but only one document fails, create a blank document and select Insert > Object > Text from File, then select the affected document. This may recover its contents while leaving damaged document data behind.
If the issue remains, please share the exact error message, your Office version, and whether Excel or PowerPoint opens normally. This will help determine whether the issue is specific to Word, a document, or the entire Office installation.
Feel free reply back to this post and update me on this issue, I'll be happy to help.
