Dear Andy Li,
If OneNote on your iPad Air crashes every time you tap Undo after drawing, it would be helpful to narrow down whether the issue is related to a specific notebook, a particular page, or the OneNote app itself.
- Does the crash occur in all notebooks/pages, or only in one specific notebook?
- Are you using Apple Pencil, a third-party stylus, or your finger to draw?
- Is your OneNote app fully updated from the App Store?
- Does the same issue occur if you create a new blank page and draw something simple, then tap Undo?
- Approximately how much free storage is available on the iPad?
- Have you already tried restarting the iPad and testing again?
Note: Please understand that as this is a public community forum, no one here has access to your device, account, or diagnostic logs.
In the meantime, as a first step, I recommend following the AI suggestions above, especially testing whether the issue occurs in a new notebook or page and checking that OneNote is fully updated. It would also be worth trying a reset of the OneNote app to rule out app-related corruption.
Before resetting, make sure your notebooks have fully synced to the cloud. Then:
- Close OneNote completely > Open Settings on your iPad > Scroll down, select Apps > choose OneNote.
- If available, in Reset OneNote, choose to clear app/ local data.
- Reopen OneNote, sign back in, allow your notebooks to resync, and test the Undo function again.
Moreover, here are some simple troubleshooting steps I recommend you try:
Step 1: Restart the OneNote App
Close OneNote completely (swipe up from the bottom of the screen to close it), then reopen it. This clears temporary files and can resolve minor glitches.
Step 2: Restart Your iPad
A full iPad restart can clear system caches and resolve underlying software issues. Press and hold either volume button and the power button until the power-off slider appears. Drag the slider to turn off your iPad, then press and hold the power button again to turn it back on.
Step 3: Check Your Internet Connection
Ensure you have a stable Wi-Fi or cellular data connection. Try opening a website in Safari to verify your internet is working.
Step 4: Free Up Storage Space
Delete unnecessary files, apps, and photos to free up storage space on your iPad. Go to Settings > General > iPad Storage to see how your storage is being used.
If the issue persists after trying the previous troubleshooting steps, you can try offloading the OneNote app. This clears the app cache and frees up storage while keeping the app's documents and data on your iPad.
- Go to Settings > General > iPad Storage > Select OneNote > Tap Offload App.
- Reinstall OneNote from the App Store > Sign in and test whether the Undo function still causes the app to crash.
However, if offloading does not resolve the issue, you can try a full reinstall. Make sure your notes are synced to your Microsoft account. Then, reinstall OneNote from the App Store.
