I do not know if this is a WINDOWS or android issue.

I do not have any of my photos taken after 10/1/2026 on my OneDrive or in my Galary on my laptop, however they are in my phone.

How do I get them on my laptop?

Open OneDrive (blue cloud icon) on your phone. Tap Sign in and use the same email as OneDrive on your laptop. If your files already appear, you’re already signed in—skip step #2.

Then tap your profile picture >> Settings >> Camera backup, turn it on, and allow access to your photos.

Turn on Camera backup in the OneDrive Android app, because direct Samsung Gallery-to-OneDrive synchronization ended September 30, 2026 and OneDrive Camera Backup is now the supported method for uploading new photos.

    1. Enable Camera backup on the phone

The October 1 cutoff exactly follows the documented Samsung Gallery change. If your phone is a Samsung device, this is the likely applicable transition: existing cloud photos remain in OneDrive, but new photos upload only when OneDrive Camera Backup is enabled and has permission to access them.^1^

    On the Android phone:

    1. Open the OneDrive app—not Samsung Gallery.
    2. Sign in with the Microsoft account used on the laptop.
    3. Tap the account/profile image at the upper left.
    4. Select Camera backup.
    5. Confirm that the correct Microsoft account is selected.
    6. Turn Camera backup on.
    7. When prompted, allow access to all photos and videos.
    8. Leave OneDrive open while the initial upload begins. Do not swipe the app closed; automatic backup only occurs while the app can run.^2^

Also check under OneDrive → profile image → Settings → Camera backup:

    • Camera backup account is the correct account.
    • If not using Wi-Fi, set Data usage to back up over Wi-Fi and mobile network.
    • Turn off Backup only when charging if you want the upload to start immediately.
    • Enable Include videos if required.
    • Under Back up device folders, select any additional folders containing pictures from messaging, editing, or social-media apps.^2^

Keep the original photos on the phone until their upload is confirmed.

    2. Display the uploaded photos on the laptop

    After the phone finishes uploading:

    1. On Windows, open Start → Photos.
    2. Select OneDrive in the left navigation pane.
    3. Select Sign in.
    4. Use the same Microsoft account selected for Camera backup on the phone.
    5. Allow Photos to access the OneDrive account.

Uploaded pictures should then appear in Microsoft Photos.^3^

If automatic upload still misses pictures

    Manually upload the missing files:

    1. Open OneDrive on the phone.
    2. Select Files and open the destination folder.
    3. Tap Add (+) and select the missing photos.

Alternatively, open the phone’s Gallery/Photos app, select the pictures, tap Share, and choose OneDrive.^4^

Check OneDrive → Me/profile for available Microsoft storage as well; uploads cannot continue when the storage quota has been exceeded.^2^

    Immediate USB transfer alternative

To copy the photos directly without waiting for OneDrive:

    1. Connect the unlocked phone to the laptop using a USB cable that supports data transfer.
    2. On the phone, change the USB notification from Charging to Transfer files or Transfer photos if prompted.
    3. On Windows, open Start → Photos → Import → connected device.
    4. Select the photos taken after October 1 and choose where to save them.

Microsoft documents this method for both Windows 10 and Windows 11.^5^
