A blinking battery or charging light after shutdown can indicate a power or charging issue. Start with these checks:
- Try a different wall outlet.
- Make sure the charger is connected securely at both ends.
- If the charger has an LED on the connector, check its state:
- Off: reconnect it securely and try another outlet.
- Blinking or flashing white: unplug it, check for damage or debris, wait at least 10 seconds, then reconnect.
- Solid white: the charger is detecting power correctly.
- Disconnect any USB accessories from the charger or laptop.
- If the connector can be inserted either way, remove it, flip it 180 degrees, and reconnect it.
- Force a restart: select Start > Power > Shut down, wait for the device to turn off, then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds.
- In Windows, check the battery icon status on the taskbar after starting the laptop again:
- X on battery: the battery is not detected.
- No charging symbol: the power supply is not being detected.
- Exclamation mark: the charger is not providing enough power.
If the battery light keeps blinking after these steps, the issue may be with the power supply or battery hardware. If there is visible damage to the charging port, connector, or cable, service is recommended.
