XBOX won't sign me in after a Windows Update 0x87DD0005

No matter what I do, I get the above error trying to sign in to Microsoft Solitaire & Casual Games. I have a subscription. I'm signed on to XBOX with my browser, but the game won't sign in and I have to play as Guest without all my settings & how far I've gotten with various games in that collection. HELP! Bots are useless and I'm spending too much time reading instead of playing. What a waste of my time. I'm getting charged for that game whether I can play it or not.

My machine installed a Windows Update before this started happening. I played yesterday for a while, so it's not my computer, dangit. How can I be logged in with my browser, but not inside the game. I supposedly cleared cache, tried to reset, and reinstalled XBOX Live and the game.

Same problem on one of my computers this morning, it did updates overnight and I logged in this morning, now all of the Microsoft games give the error code 0x87DD0005 and won't sign me in. The Xbox app will sign me in and works fine. It is only the Microsoft games that are broken.

The above troubleshooting tips do not work. I restarted my PC and did the time/date sync, those didn't fix it.

Then I removed the Xbox app, Xbox Live app, Gaming Services, and uninstalled all the games, then reinstalled every one of those again, and that did not fix it.

I removed all the credentials related to my Microsoft and Xbox sign in from the Credential manager, logged back in wherever needed and that didn't fix it.

I tried to remove the updates that were installed last night but they just keep automatically reinstalling upon a forced restart.

It's broken under all of the MS Games, not just one either. I even tried to install an older version of one of the games (Jigsaw) and it still gives the same error.

For error 0x87DD0005, the documented fix is to make sure the Xbox app and Gaming Services are fully refreshed, then retry sign-in.

    1. Restart the PC first. A bad service state after updates can block sign-in.
    2. Make sure Gaming Services is up to date.
      • Open PowerShell as Administrator.
      • Run:
             get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers

      • In the same PowerShell window, run:
             start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN

      • Install Gaming Services from the Store page that opens.
    3. Make sure the Xbox app is up to date.
      • Open PowerShell as Administrator.
      • Run:
             get-appxpackage Microsoft.XboxApp | remove-AppxPackage -allusers

      • In the same PowerShell window, run:
             start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9mv0b5hzvk9z

      • Install the Xbox app from the Store page.
    4. If sign-in still fails, resync the system clock.
      • Go to Settings > Time & language > Date & time.
      • Turn on Set time automatically.
      • Select Sync now.
    5. Clear cached Xbox sign-in tokens.
      • Open Credential Manager.
      • Select Windows Credentials.
      • Under Generic Credentials, remove entries that start with or contain Xbl.
      • Restart the PC and try again.
    6. If the issue started only on this Windows profile, test with a new local Windows user account and try signing in there. If it works in the new profile, the original profile has a local sign-in cache problem.

Note: removing and reinstalling Gaming Services or the Xbox app is a repair step. It should not remove game progress stored with the account, but local app state may be refreshed.
