Prior to the latest windows update I could play games on XBox Live with no problem. After the update I am unable to sign in using my MS Account, which is how I signed in here, and log on to my pc.

Step 1: Clear Corrupted Xbox and Microsoft Credentials

Press the Windows Key, type Credential Manager, and press Enter.

Click on Windows Credentials.

Look through the list for any entries starting with XBOX_LIVE, MicrosoftAccount, or similar tokens.

Click on each one and select Remove.

Restart your computer.

Verification: Open the Xbox app or try signing in to verify if it prompts you cleanly for your credentials.

Step 2: Reset the Xbox Identity Provider and Gaming Services

Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps (or Apps & features).

Search for Xbox Identity Provider, click the three dots (...), and select Advanced options.

Click Repair (if that doesn't resolve it, click Reset).

Right-click the Start button and select Terminal (Admin) or PowerShell (Admin).

Copy and paste the following command into PowerShell, then press Enter:

get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-appxpackage -allusers

Restart your PC. The system will automatically reinstall clean versions upon reboot.

Verification: Launch an Xbox Live game or the Xbox app to see if you can log in without error messages.

Step 3: Check for Follow-up Windows Updates

Go to Settings > Windows Update.

Click Check for updates to see if a fix or cumulative patch is available.

  1. Install any available updates and reboot your machine.
    • Verification: Check Windows Update to confirm your device is fully up to date.
