Organizing, editing, and coordinating meetings and events within Microsoft Teams calendars
Try removing the meeting from Outlook on the web instead of Teams first.
- Open Outlook on the web and go to Calendar.
- Find the same recurring meeting.
- Open it and choose:
- Cancel if the meeting was organized by the mailbox owner.
- Delete or Decline if it was only received as an attendee.
- For a recurring item, choose the appropriate option:
- Delete occurrence / This event for one instance
- Delete series / All events in the series for the whole series
If the item deletes in Outlook on the web but not in Teams, that points to a Teams calendar sync/client issue.
If Outlook on the web also cannot remove it, try this next in Outlook for Windows:
- Close Outlook.
- Run
outlook /cleanreminders. - If needed, close Outlook again and run
outlook /cleandmrecords. - Reopen Outlook and try deleting the meeting again.
These switches can affect reminder and meeting record data, so use them only after the Outlook on the web test.
If the meeting still cannot be opened or removed in both Teams and Outlook on the web, the recurring series may be corrupted. In that case, if the mailbox owner is the organizer, an Exchange administrator can use Remove-CalendarEvents to cancel meetings from the mailbox. If that does not work, the next step is a Microsoft support case.
