Why am I being threatened by Microsoft?

I today received an email, supposedly from Microsoft, saying the below:

From: Microsoft Cashback[email protected]

We noticed that you still have cashback available in your Microsoft Cashback account.
We noticed that you still have cashback available in your Microsoft Cashback account.
As a courtesy, we're sending this one-time reminder because we won't send additional notices about account inactivity. If your account remains inactive, a monthly account maintenance fee of up to $4.00 (or local currency equivalent), as described in the Terms of Use, will begin to apply 30 days from the date of this notice.
You can easily avoid any maintenance fees by signing in and either redeeming your available cashback or earning additional cashback rewards.
If your account remains inactive, the maintenance fee will be deducted from your available Microsoft Cashback balance each month until your balance reaches zero or your account becomes active again.
As a reminder, maintenance fees are deducted only from your available Microsoft Cashback balance. You will never be charged out of pocket or for more than the amount available in your account.
Thank you for being a Microsoft Cashback member.
For questions, please contact support, or visit our Terms of Use.

Please, if this is genuinely from Microsoft and there is a small pot of money or points saved up, I'm not interested and I'm not paying a $4 fine every month. Just transfer the money/points to someone that knows what to do with them and leave me alone. I use Microsoft products simply because my computer came with them and I've always defaulted to them, but I have no interest in becoming a member of any MS club, fraternity or anything else, especially whilst you've got that manic president over there.

Thanks for your assistance in this matter, I can't find anything that states what if anything I have tucked away in the Microsoft vaults and as long as I can continue to use the software products so many of us have become accustom to using, that's all I want or need.

All the very best and have a great day,

Iain Bacon.

Hi Iain,

The Cashback feature is part of Microsoft Bing rewards, if you want to leave Cashback, they do not provide a separate method to leave Cashback, you need to use the process on this link to opt out of Bing rewards, and please note, when you leave Bing Rewards, you will loose access to any Bing Rewards points you have collected.
