OneNote crashing on iPad pro

I have used OneNote on an iPad for years now and have never had an issue with it. Within the last week though, every time I hit the undo button it crashes the app on my iPad Pro. I have tried updating the app, clearing my cache, deleting and redownloading the app, and a few other things but nothing has worked. Would just like some help resolving this issue.

    Hello DJ,

Since OneNote crashes consistently when you select Undo, even after updating and reinstalling the app.

As a next step, please collect the crash information:

    1. Open the iPad Settings app and select Apps > OneNote > Troubleshooting.
    2. Note the Last Error ID and Last Error Version, if displayed.
    3. If available, enable Logging for Customer Support, reproduce the crash once, and then disable logging again because it may affect app performance.

The you can contact Microsoft Support for further insight and assistance about this issue:

    1. Open a website link - Contact - Microsoft Support
    2. In the box below "We're here to help", type Microsoft 365, click "Get Help", and then click "Contact Support" below.
    3. In this section, you will need to sign in to your Microsoft account.
    4. Select "Microsoft 365 and Office" under Products & Services, select "Technical Support" as the category, and click to confirm
    5. You can select " Chat with a support agent in your web browser " to access the chat window.

At this stage, there does not appear to be another confirmed user-side fix for this specific Undo crash. Please continue using the Eraser or OneNote for the web until an app update resolves it.

I hope you can get the support you need, have a nice day.

Avoid Undo while in Draw mode for now and report the crash through OneNote, because a recent iPad Pro report describes the same repeatable Undo crash and no official fix or workaround has yet been published.^1^

    Temporary workaround

    1. Allow OneNote to finish syncing before drawing. Pull down the Notebooks list; wait until the spinning sync indicator disappears.^2^
    2. Until an update fixes the regression, avoid the on-screen Undo button in Draw mode. If possible:
      • Erase the unwanted ink with the Eraser tool instead.
      • Make important edits through OneNote on another device or OneNote on the web.
    3. After a crash, reopen the affected page and verify that its latest ink synced before adding more content. The matching report notes that recent markings can be lost after restarting.^1^

    Report the reproducible crash

Since updating, clearing cache, and reinstalling have already failed, repeating them is unlikely to help this particular symptom.

In OneNote, open Settings → Send Feedback and include:

    • “OneNote crashes every time Undo is tapped”
    • Whether it occurs only under Draw, or also while typing
    • iPad Pro model
    • Settings → General → About → iPadOS Version
    • OneNote version shown in OneNote settings or the App Store
    • Whether it affects every notebook/page or only one
    • Approximate time of the latest crash

This in-app route sends the report to the OneNote team; it has also been recommended for recent iPad-specific OneNote defects.^3^

If the crash is limited to one large notebook or page

After confirming that everything is synchronized and accessible elsewhere:

    • Close notebooks that are not currently needed.
    • Reduce unusually large sections/pages or move a large section into another notebook.
    • Check iPad Settings → General → iPad Storage → OneNote and ensure the device has adequate free storage.

Microsoft documents these measures for OneNote responsiveness on iPad, particularly with large notebooks.^4^

The official recent-issues page does not currently document this specific Undo crash, so monitor it and the App Store for a subsequent OneNote update.^5^
