Dear Support Team,

We are facing an issue while creating Microsoft Teams meetings through Outlook. When we try to schedule a meeting, the following error message appears:

“We couldn't make this a Teams meeting. Something went wrong and we couldn't create a Teams meeting link.”

As a result, we are unable to generate the Teams meeting link for our calendar invitations.

We request you to investigate this issue and help us resolve it at the earliest. Please check whether any account configuration, licence, or integration-related issue is preventing the meeting link from being generated.

We have attached a screenshot of the error message for your reference.

Kindly look into this issue and provide a resolution as soon as possible.

    Good day Training,

Just to gently clarify before going any further, this forum is separate from Microsoft Support. I don’t have the ability to access or investigate individual accounts because this is a user‑to‑user support forum.

This can happen if Outlook and Teams are signed in with different accounts, the connection between Outlook and Teams needs to be refreshed, the account is missing the required Microsoft 365 or Teams configuration, or a Teams policy is restricting meeting scheduling.

Please don't select "Send anyway", as the invitation will be sent without a Teams meeting link.

    Please try the following steps:

Step 1: Verify that Outlook and Teams use the same account

Open Outlook and check the account currently signed in.

Open Microsoft Teams and check the account currently signed in.

Confirm that both applications use the same work account.

If they are different, sign out and sign back in to both applications using the same organizational account.

Create a new meeting and test again.

Please note that Teams meeting integration is supported with Microsoft 365 work or school accounts that use Exchange mailboxes. POP or IMAP accounts such as Gmail, Yahoo, or iCloud cannot create Teams meetings from Outlook. For more information, please refer to: Schedule a Microsoft Teams meeting from Outlook | Microsoft Support

Step 2: Refresh the Outlook and Teams connection

    Close Outlook completely.

Right click the Teams icon in the system tray and select Quit.

Open Teams and wait until it finishes signing in.

    Open Outlook.

Create a new meeting and test the Teams meeting option again.

Step 3: Test in Outlook or Teams on the web

Sign in to Outlook on the web or Teams on the web using the same account.

Open Calendar and create a new event > Turn on Teams meeting > Send the invitation.

If the meeting link is created successfully on the web, the issue is isolated to the local Outlook or Teams application. Please let me know the result so I can provide the next troubleshooting steps.

Step 4: Ask your organization's IT administrator to review and verify the configuration

Note: These steps must be performed by an administrator. If you don't have sufficient administrative privileges, please contact your Global administrator for assistance. In case you do not know who is your Global admin, kindly refer to this article: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support

1/ Please confirm that the affected user has an active Microsoft 365 license and that Teams is enabled in the Microsoft 365 admin center:

Sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center.

Go to Users > Active users. Open the affected account and select Licenses and apps.

Confirm that a valid license is assigned. Expand Apps and verify that Microsoft Teams is enabled.

If any changes are made, sign out and sign back in to Outlook and Teams before testing again.

2/ Check the meeting policy assigned to the affected user in the Teams admin center:

Open the Teams admin center and navigate to Meetings > Meeting policies.

Open the policy assigned to the affected user.

Verify that Private meeting scheduling is enabled.

Verify that the Outlook add-in is enabled.

Save any changes and allow time for the policy update to apply.

After the policy has updated, restart both Teams and Outlook and test again.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out at any time.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
