A Microsoft app for iOS and Android devices that enables authentication with two-factor verification, phone sign-in, and code generation
If the lock is inside the Microsoft Authenticator app, unlock the app with the device PIN, fingerprint, or Face ID.
If the app shows "Authentication did not complete", check these in order:
- Make sure the Authenticator app is unlocked.
- Turn on notifications for Microsoft Authenticator.
- Update to the latest version of the app.
- Check internet connectivity and try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data.
- Make sure the device date and time are correct.
If access still cannot be restored:
- For a personal Microsoft account, open Authenticator, go to the app’s top-level menu, select Send feedback, then contact Support or use the Microsoft Authenticator app forum.
- For a work or school account, open Authenticator, go to the app’s top-level menu, select Send feedback, then contact the IT admin.
If the problem is that the Microsoft account itself is locked, sign in at https://account.microsoft.com. If sign-in is not possible, use the Microsoft account sign-in helper.
If the account was locked because of suspicious activity and there is no "Let's prove you're human" option, use the aka.ms/ link shown in the lock message and submit the reinstatement form. Do not submit multiple requests, because that can slow the response.
