I wanted to install Office 2024 after uninstalling Office 2021. The setup went online to Microsoft and the installation from there seemed ok. After opening word-File-Account I saw 1) Account error (I was loged in and online with my account).

There was a tab "Repair registration" but that didn't work. 2) Under "Connected services" : Can't show a online services-"Try it again" but that didn't work. 3) On the right side of the window under Products there was : "Microsoft Office Professional plus 2021" while I expected to see "Office LTSC Pro Plus 2024". 4) Under "Info about Word" there was marked "version 2408 (build 17932.21000) which seem the build number of Office 2024.

Hello @Joris E

Office 2024 LTSC Pro Plus is primarily offered for use in companies or corporations and in most cases activated with a MAK (Multiple Activation Key) or KMS (Key Management Service). These licensing models are designed for organizations and allow activation on a specific number of devices (MAK) or by an enterprise KMS server.

If you purchased Office LTSC 2024 and are experiencing issues with the product or its activation, I recommend contacting the reseller or vendor from whom you obtained the license. They can verify your purchase, confirm the licensing details, and provide guidance on the support options available for your specific Office LTSC 2024 license.

For any further concerns, please feel free to let me know.

Version 2408 (Build 17932.21000) confirms that the installed binaries are Office LTSC 2024, so check the installed licenses, remove only any residual Office 2021 key, and then activate LTSC 2024 through your organization’s MAK, KMS, or Active Directory volume-activation method. ^1^

    1. Identify the active and residual licenses

Close every Office application. Open Command Prompt as administrator, then run:

    cd /d "%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Office\root\Office16"
    cscript ospp.vbs /dstatusall
    cscript ospp.vbs /dhistoryacterr
    cscript ospp.vbs /act
    cscript ospp.vbs /dstatusall

If that folder does not exist and 32-bit Office is installed on 64-bit Windows, use:

    cd /d "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Microsoft Office\root\Office16"
    cscript ospp.vbs /dstatusall

/dstatusall displays all installed Office licenses, while /act attempts activation and returns an error code if activation fails. These commands must run from an elevated prompt. ^2^

    Examine the output for:

    • An Office LTSC Professional Plus 2024 license.
    • Any remaining Office Professional Plus 2021 license.
    • LICENSE STATUS, the activation channel, and the last five characters of each installed key.

    2. Remove only a residual 2021 key

If /dstatusall lists both 2024 and 2021, remove the 2021 key using its displayed last five characters:

    cscript ospp.vbs /unpkey:XXXXX
    cscript ospp.vbs /dstatusall

Do not remove the key identified as Office LTSC Professional Plus 2024. Removing a key deactivates that product until a valid key or activation service is supplied.

Restart Word afterward and recheck File > Account. Microsoft documents that Office applications sometimes need restarting before updated volume-licensing information appears. ^3^

    3. Activate LTSC 2024 by the correct method

Office LTSC Professional Plus 2024 is an organizational volume-licensed product. Signing into Word with a Microsoft account is not its activation method; supported activation uses KMS, MAK, or Active Directory-based activation. ^4^

    • KMS: Connect the PC to the organization’s network or VPN and run cscript ospp.vbs /act. Properly configured clients discover the KMS host through DNS. ^5^
    • MAK: The organization’s valid LTSC 2024 MAK must be installed and activated. MAK activation is a one-time activation against Microsoft-hosted services and has an activation allowance determined by the volume agreement. ^6^
    • Active Directory activation: The device must be joined to the appropriately configured organizational domain.

If this was purchased as an individual “Professional Plus” license rather than supplied through an organization’s volume agreement, verify the seller and licensing source before entering any key. Office LTSC Professional Plus 2024 is distributed to organizations through volume licensing, not as the normal consumer Office 2024 product. ^4^

    4. Reinstall only if the license inventory remains mixed

Because the ordinary uninstall already left inconsistent product information, use Microsoft’s uninstall troubleshooter to remove the old Office 2021 components, restart Windows, and then deploy LTSC 2024 again. The troubleshooter can remove Office 2021 but currently cannot uninstall Office 2024. ^7^

For an authorized organizational deployment, use the current Office Deployment Tool with:

    • Product ID: ProPlus2024Volume
    • Channel: PerpetualVL2024
    • The organization’s MAK, or the appropriate KMS configuration

Microsoft documents ODT as the supported deployment mechanism for LTSC 2024. ^8^

    Connected Services error

Treat “Can’t show online services” separately after licensing is corrected. LTSC 2024 supports connections to Microsoft 365 services through October 9, 2029, so the edition itself does not explain that message. ^9^

If activation is valid but the message remains, have the organization’s administrator check Office privacy policies governing connected experiences. When those experiences are disabled, Office can gray out commands or display errors when they are used. ^10^
