    Try these checks in order:

    1. Verify Outlook is online. On the Outlook menu, make sure Work Offline is not checked.
    2. Check whether the account can be reached in the browser. If mail works in Outlook on the web but not in Outlook for Mac, the issue is likely with the Mac app connection or sync.
    3. Check the Exchange account connection in Outlook for Mac. Go to Tools > Accounts and look at the account in the left pane. If the indicator icon is orange, Outlook is not connected to the Exchange server.
    4. Make sure the Mac has Internet access. Open a browser and confirm websites load normally.
    5. If this is an Exchange account, empty the Outlook cache for the affected folder. Caution: Emptying the cache deletes any information in that folder that is not synchronized with the Exchange server, including contacts' mail certificates. Back up Outlook data first if needed.
      • Make sure the Mac is connected to the Exchange server.
      • In the navigation pane, Ctrl+click or right-click the Exchange folder.
      • Select Properties.
      • On the General tab, choose Empty Cache. Outlook will re-download the items from the Exchange server.
    6. If the mailbox is full, clear space. If Microsoft cloud storage is full, sending and receiving email can stop.
    7. If the account is being added in Apple Mail instead of Outlook for Mac, account registration may be required first. Sign in to the account in Outlook on the web once, then sign out, and try adding the account again in Mail for Mac.
    8. If the mail server is unavailable, contact the email provider or network administrator to confirm the server is online.

The missing verification codes point to either no incoming mail sync, mailbox filtering, or the account not completing registration in the Mac mail client. The fastest path is: confirm mail arrives in Outlook on the web, confirm Outlook is not offline, then check the account status in Tools > Accounts.
