Windows 11, version 26H2 ,Failed to install on ‎10/‎1/‎2026 - 0x80072efd

what is causing this error code and not allowing Windows update to be installed. My computer says restart to complete the install, but the update is not installed after the restart.

    The 26H2 update is just a small enablement package used to install the 26H2 update, many people are reporting problems trying to install that update, the error 0x80072efd indicates a problem contacting the Microsoft servers.

    The best option is to open the Settings App.

    Go to System - Recovery.

    Click the 'Reinstall Now' button in the 'Fix problems with Windows Updates' section, then wait for that process to complete, this process should fix your Windows updates process and does not affect your files, settings or installed apps.

    Hello,

    In addition to DaveM121's suggestion, you can try manual upgrade using Windows 11 26H2 ISO file.

    Follow these steps: 

    Download Windows 11 26H2 ISO from the official Microsoft website.

    Double click on it to mount it to a DVD drive.

    Then go to DVD drive, double click on setup.exe to proceed.

    Follow on-screen instructions to complete upgrade.
