Windows update keep installing old Intel display driver 30.0.100.9864 on Windows 11 Pro version 26h2.
When is Microsoft removing this old driver? It is many years outdated and is now causing problems.
I already installed new version of Windows 26h2 twice. After the windows updates it already gives problems when installing the old driver 30.0.100.9864. It fails. I have 4 newer drivers already for this Intel driver. I installed all 4 drivers from oldest to latest, but after installing the latest driver and then checking for windows update the next day the same old driver 30.0.100.9864 returns in the updates.
This is very frustrating.
I going to have to start with a fresh Windows 11 install again, because of this.

Windows is blocking this download (Windows hide update), because it can harm my computer. I will contact Intel support. I already tried this tool in the past on Windows 10, Group policy settings to exclude drivers and driver settings in Windows to not update any drivers in the past. All the above does not work with display drivers. Windows should bring back options to hide and unhide all updates and bring back the same functionality as Windows 7.
I think I resolved the issue. At the moment when checking Windows Update for new updates, the old update for Intel graphics driver version 30.0.100.9864 does not return. I will check in next few days Windows update again.
After installing the new version Windows 26h2 home as a fresh install, I waited for all downloads of Windows to complete and install, then upgraded to Windows 11 Pro and after the download and install for Windows Pro, I then restarted the laptop. Then I check Windows update for new updates again and installed all recommend and optional updates and then restarted the laptop. After this I installed My Asus app and then installed all the system updates including Intel graphics driver version 30.0.101.1660 via the My Asus app. After restarting the laptop, I then installed Intel Driver & Support assistant version 25.4.36.6 and then installed Intel graphics driver version 31.0.101.2115 via the Intel website from the support assistant. After restarting the laptop, I then installed the latest Intel graphics version 31.0.101.2145 as listed on the Intel Website (not marking the fresh installation option). I did not try to install Intel graphics 31.0.101.2141 as it is not listed on the Intel website anymore.
I then ran the following commands from command prompt as an administrator.
1)sfc /verifyonly - no integrity violations found.
2)Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth - no Windows Store corruption found.
3)Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /AnalyzeComponentStore - cleanup recommended.
4)Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /startcomponentcleanup- the tool removed a few old packages.
5)Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth - no Windows Store corruption found.
After this I restarted the laptop and then check a few times for new updates in Windows Update. The old update for Intel graphics driver version 30.0.100.9864 does not return at the moment. Previously it returned when checking for new updates in Windows update after installing Intel graphics 31.0.101.2141.
