Disable Autofill in Microsoft Edge using Intune Device Configuration Profile

2026-10-09T17:13:21.0566667+00:00

Hi,

I am configuring a device configuration profile in Intune. This configuration profile is targeting Microsoft Edge. This profile disables the Password Manager within Edge and enables automatic updates. My user's are still getting autofill suggestions in their edge browsers. What is the setting or configuration I need to use in order to get rid of this feature? I am currently using a Device Configuration Policy in the Settings Template and can also use the Administrative Templates if necessary. Any helps would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

    Disabling Password Manager in Edge doesn't disable autofill. They're separate policies. In Intune, go to Devices > Configuration, create or edit a Settings Catalog policy, and search for Autofill. You'll want to disable Enable AutoFill for addresses (AutofillAddressEnabled) and Enable AutoFill for credit cards (AutofillCreditCardEnabled). Keep PasswordManagerEnabled disabled as well.

    If they're still seeing suggestions, check edge://policy on an affected machine to verify the policies are actually applying. Also, keep in mind that some suggestions come from browsing history or previously entered form data, which are separate from password and address autofill. You may need to clear existing autofill data or adjust additional policies depending on what's being suggested.

    For Microsoft Edge 154 or later, configure Block AutoFill data types for specific sites with url_pattern set to * and blocked_types set to ["all"]; disabling Password Manager alone does not disable non-password autofill.

    Configure the current Edge policy

    1. In the Microsoft Intune admin center, go to Devices → Windows → Manage devices → Configuration.
    2. Edit the existing Settings Catalog profile, or select Create → New policy:
      • Platform: Windows 10 and later
      • Profile type: Settings catalog
    3. Select Add settings, search for Block AutoFill data types for specific sites, and select the setting under Microsoft Edge.
    4. Configure the policy as a mandatory setting with this value:
    [
      {
        "url_pattern": "*",
        "blocked_types": ["all"]
      }
    ]

    1. Assign the profile to the required users or devices, then save it.

    The wildcard applies to every site, while all blocks saving and filling contact information, payments, identity documents, travel information, and shopping information. It also suppresses suggestions and prompts to save or import those data types. This policy requires Edge 154 or later on Windows. ^1^

    Validate the deployment

    After the device checks in with Intune:

    1. Open Edge and browse to edge://policy.
    2. Select Reload policies if necessary.
    3. Confirm that AutofillSettings appears with the expected JSON value and has no Error state.
    4. Test a form in a new tab and confirm that saved personal-information and payment suggestions are no longer offered.

    Microsoft’s Intune guidance uses edge://policy to verify that deployed Edge policy keys contain their expected values and are not reporting errors. ^2^

    If the devices are below Edge 154

    AutofillSettings is unavailable before version 154. Until those devices update, add both of these Settings Catalog or Administrative Template settings:

    • Microsoft Edge → Enable AutoFill for addresses: Disabled
    • Microsoft Edge → Enable AutoFill for payment instruments: Disabled

    Disabling address autofill stops Edge from saving, suggesting, or filling previous address and general form entries, except password and payment fields. ^3^ Disabling payment autofill separately stops saved payment suggestions and new payment recommendations. ^4^

    These two policies are currently supported but deprecated, so migrate to AutofillSettings after all targeted devices reach Edge 154.

    If suggestions remain after edge://policy shows the correct policy, identify whether they are password suggestions, website-provided suggestions, or Windows typing suggestions. The Edge autofill policy governs Edge’s stored form data; it does not establish that every suggestion displayed inside a webpage originates from Edge autofill.
