    1. Edge’s tracking prevention or a security setting. Open edge://settings/privacy and set Tracking prevention to Balanced. Under “Exceptions,” add yahoo.com and login.yahoo.com.
    2. Cached or corrupted cookies. Open edge://settings/siteData, search for “yahoo”, remove those entries, and then sign in again. You can also try an InPrivate window (Ctrl+Shift+N). If Yahoo opens there, the cause is a stored cookie or an extension.
    3. An extension. Ad blockers and security add-ons often block Yahoo’s login redirects. In the InPrivate test, extensions are off by default, so if it works there, turn your extensions off one by one at edge://extensions.
    4. SmartScreen or a certificate warning. If Edge shows a warning page, check that your PC’s date, time, and time zone are correct. A wrong clock can make Yahoo’s secure connection fail.
    5. Yahoo’s own security check. If Yahoo asks you to verify your identity, use the account recovery page at login.yahoo.com/account/recover or try the Yahoo Mail app on your phone.

If Yahoo mail stopped working in Outlook or Edge right after a password change or recent update, the supported fixes depend on where the problem occurs:

    1. If the Yahoo account is in classic Outlook, wait up to one hour after a password change. Outlook may not prompt for sign-in until the OAuth token expires.
    2. If Outlook still does not prompt, force a new sign-in:
      • Close Outlook.
      • Open Credential Manager.
      • Go to Windows Credentials.
      • Under Generic credentials, find entries starting with MicrosoftOffice16_Data:OAUTH2 for Yahoo.
      • Remove the Yahoo-related entries.
      • Restart Outlook and sign in again.
      • If mail still does not sync immediately, restart Outlook once more.
    3. If that does not fix classic Outlook, there is a second workaround using Registry Editor to remove the Yahoo identity key under:
      • Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\Identity\Identities
      • This is riskier than Credential Manager changes. Delete only the identity key that matches the affected Yahoo account, then restart Outlook and sign in again.
    4. If the issue is with Outlook.com connected accounts, syncing Yahoo accounts from within Outlook.com is no longer supported. Use another Outlook app instead, such as:
      • Outlook mobile
      • new Outlook for Windows
      • classic Outlook for Windows
      • Outlook for Mac
    5. If the problem is specifically Microsoft Edge update settings, open:
      • Settings and more > Help and feedback > About Microsoft Edge (edge://settings/help)
      • Turn on available update toggles such as Download and install updates automatically.
      • If the toggles are dimmed or missing, the browser may be managed by an organization.
