I have updated to 26H2 and settings app still will not open.
i am using windows 11 ver 25H2 and settings will not start

settings will not start. I have tried numerous so-called fixes I found online to no avail.

If you press winkey + r try copying some of these into the Run command (in bold) then click OK. Let me know if any work.

• Bluetooth & Devices: ms-settings:bluetooth
• Network & Internet: ms-settings:network

Go to Start > Power > (hold down the shift key) Restart.
After windows restarts it should show Troubleshoot, select that then Advanced options.
Select Start-up settings then Safe Mode.
Windows will restart in Safe Mode. See if you can access Settings from there.

MotoX80 37,861 Reputation points2026-10-11T12:09:39.32+00:00 There has to be some point in time when your settings app would open. There has to be another point in time when settings stopped functioning.
You had to have done something in that time frame to cause the problem with the settings app. Settings would not just decide one day that it's not going to function anymore.
Can you give us some background information about your pc as to what might have occurred? Did you install any 3rd party software? Did you do anything with the MS Store? Were you changing folder security permissions? Did the problem start after installing some Windows Update?
Try resetting the immersive control panel. Open Powershell with "Run as administrator" and run this command.
Get-AppxPackage *windows.immersivecontrolpanel* | Reset-AppxPackageRefer to: https://www.thewindowsclub.com/windows-11-settings-blank-or-missing

but I am coming up blank. I just read the info on the link you posted and it depicts my issue exactly.

2026-10-11T18:20:26.2266667+00:00 You can try to see if windows shows any corruption, although to update to 26H2 should have caught that.
Run Method 1 then method 2.
Method 1:
Run DISM tool and check the issue. Please follow these steps:
a. Press Windows + X keys and click command prompt (admin). Or PowerShell (Admin).
b. Type the following command in command prompt and press Enter.
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth
after the scan is complete type the following and press Enter
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
then use method 2.
Method 2:
System file checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.
Run system file checker (SFC) and see if it helps. Please follow these steps:
a. Press Windows + X keys and click command prompt (admin). Or PowerShell (Admin).
b. Type the following command in command prompt and press Enter.
sfc /scannow
After completing the scans restart using Start > Power > Restart.

2026-10-05T15:16:40.77+00:00 The best thing is probably a repair install using the latest ISO image file. It will give the latest available version of windows which is now 26H2.
Go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11 and select to download the windows 11 disc image file.
Once the file is saved to your device open File Explorer and Mount the ISO file. When mounted it will show a new virtual optical disk, select that and in the right hand pane run Setup.
Follow the onscreen instructions to complete a repair.
