This can happen after a Windows update, especially on Insider builds where cursor display issues have been reported.
Try these steps in order:
- Rebuild the cursor scheme
- Press Win + R.
- Open Mouse settings and go to the Pointers tab.
- Change to a different built-in scheme, select Apply.
- Switch back to Windows Default, then select Apply and OK.
- Restart the PC
- A restart can refresh the mouse driver and cursor rendering.
- Check for newer updates
- In the taskbar search box, type check for updates.
- Select Check for updates.
- Under Windows Update, select Check for updates again.
- Install any available updates.
- Update the mouse driver
- In the taskbar search box, type device manager and open Device Manager.
- Find the mouse under the hardware categories.
- Double-click the device name.
- Open the Driver tab.
- Select Update Driver and follow the prompts.
- If the issue started immediately after an update on an Insider build
- Report it through Feedback Hub with Win + F.
- If needed, uninstall the recent update and pause updates until a newer build is available.
The screenshot shows Windows 11 Pro Insider Preview, so an update-related regression is a strong possibility.
