Microsoft Pop-ups to "sign in" when I'm logging into other sites

As the title says: Microsoft keeps popping up when I'm logging into my accounts on other sites like my Vanguard. How do I stop this? I don't even know why this would happen with sites that have NO affiliation with Microsoft or Outlook

    Hi Steven Schneider,

I understand why this would be confusing, especially when it appears while signing in to an unrelated website.

Could you let me know exactly what the pop-up says, and whether it asks for your Windows PIN, account password or something else? If possible, please also confirm whether it happens only when Edge tries to fill a saved password or every time you open the sign-in page. A screenshot would be helpful, but please hide your email address, username and any other personal information first.

If it appears when a saved password is being filled, it may be Edge asking you to verify your identity before releasing the saved credentials. You can check this by opening:

Edge Settings > Passwords and autofill > Microsoft Password Manager > More Settings

Find "Prompt for the device sign-in options before viewing or filling website password". If it is enabled, turn it off, then test the affected website again. If you would prefer to enter your passwords manually, you can instead turn off "Autofill passwords and passkeys", which prevents Edge from automatically filling saved passwords on websites.

If the prompt appears inside the webpage, shows an unfamiliar address or asks for information unrelated to your saved password, please close it without entering anything. You can then test the site in an InPrivate window. If it does not happen there, temporarily disable your Edge extensions one at a time to identify whether one of them is causing the prompt.

Let me know what the pop-up says and when it appears and I’ll help you narrow down the next step.
