Processes in Microsoft 365 for setting up Office apps, redeeming product keys, and activating licenses.
Try this in order:
- Confirm the subscription is linked to the correct Microsoft account. Sign in to Services & subscriptions and verify Microsoft 365 Personal appears there. If the product was bought from a retail or online store and has not been redeemed yet, redeem it at
https://office.com/setupso it becomes associated with the account. - Remove any existing Office installation, then restart Windows. Old or partial Office installs can block a new install.
- Download and install again from the account page under Services & subscriptions.
- If an error message appears during install and it has a Learn More link, open that link and follow the error-specific steps.
- Check whether the PC is supported. Microsoft 365 or Office will not install on unsupported operating systems such as Windows Vista or Windows XP.
- If the install shows error codes like 0-1011, 30088-1015, or 30183-1011, first free up hard drive space, then try the install again. These errors can also be related to network connection issues.
- If the normal installer keeps failing, use the Microsoft 365 offline installer. This can help bypass proxy, firewall, antivirus, or Internet connection issues during installation.
If Office installs but later shows Unlicensed Product or a subscription notice, use the activation troubleshooting steps for Office activation errors.
