On 2026-10-13 I accidentally purchased the Developer support plan (Microsoft Azure Support – 1 Month, $29 during free-account signup; the signup flow preselects a paid plan. I cancelled it back to Basic the same day and have used zero support incidents. I am requesting a full refund of this charge. Invoice attached.

    Hi @VL

Nobody on Q&A can issue refunds, but you can ask the billing team directly, and it's free to do so. I'll be upfront about one thing first: the Azure support plans FAQ says plans are billed monthly and cancelling early doesn't give a prorated refund. That's the standard rule, but a same-day accidental purchase with zero usage is exactly the kind of case worth asking billing to review.

    1. In the Azure portal, open Help + support > Create a support request.
    2. Issue type: Billing. Pick your subscription, and choose the problem type closest to a refund or unexpected charge.
    3. In the description, keep it short: plan purchased by mistake during signup on 2026-10-13, cancelled back to Basic the same day, no support incidents used, requesting a refund. Attach the invoice there.
    4. Billing support doesn't need a paid plan, so this is available on your free account.

Please don't post the invoice or your subscription details here, only in the ticket.

Did the cancellation back to Basic show as completed in the portal, or is it still pending?

If this resolved your question, please consider accepting it as the answer. If the billing request option isn't available to you, let me know and I'll be happy to keep helping.
