October 13 update - still no luck with USB audio and "code 10" errors

I have an Andrea NC-455VM headset that I use for video chats since I am deaf. It provides sufficient power to listen and read captions. The September update rendered them unusable, even though I looked at workarounds to avoid rolling back the update. The current system info is:

  • Windows 11, version 26H2 which also includes 2026-10 Security Update (KB5127648) (26200.9711), 2026-10 .NET Framework Security Update (KB5127690). Last update was today, 10/13.

This week's patch and update seem to have failed to address the problem yet again as I still get no audio through the headset and see the Code 10 error in the device properties. I am hesitant to purchase a replacement headset since I don't want to run the risk of having that also be inoperable.

Have I missed something or has Microsoft still not delivered a solution that affects similar devices and causes significant accessibility problems?

Microsoft’s own pages are giving conflicting information about this USB audio bug. The October 13 update says it’s fixed, but the same issue is still listed under known issues on another page.

Your NC-455VM headset may be affected, although there’s no confirmed report for this exact model.

Try uninstalling the headset in Device Manager, restarting, and testing another USB port. Also check Windows Update and restart again.

If the problem continues, report it through Feedback Hub. Since you’d rather not roll back Windows, a 3.5 mm analog headset or Bluetooth headset may be the safest alternative. I’d avoid USB audio adapters for now, as they could face the same issue.
