Hi Microsoft or anyone that maybe able to help,

I am continually bombared by spmmers who add me to a groups.outlook.com

Where is the setting that stops spammers adding my email to a group?

How can I automatically leave groups I have not joined?

That microsoft allows this is 2026 is outrageous.

    Hi @Mark Richards

I understand your concern, especially since this is not simply a matter of receiving unwanted emails. Your address is being added to Outlook groups that you did not choose to join.

Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators, contributors including external Microsoft employees cannot directly intervene in Microsoft product features or access back-end systems. Our role is limited to providing technical guidance on reported issues, requests, or ideas only.

While blocking a sender or creating an Inbox rule may help reduce some of the messages generated by these groups, it would not prevent your account from being added to additional groups. For that reason, I would not consider blocking individual domains a complete solution in this situation.

For groups that have already been added, you can use Leave group to remove yourself. Since Outlook.com does not currently provide a setting that lets you approve or reject a group membership before being added, I would also recommend submitting this behavior through Help > Feedback in Outlook.com. A permission option for group membership would be the feature that more directly addresses the issue you described.

I understand this still requires manual action for existing groups, but I hope this clarifies why simply blocking the visible sender may not stop the unwanted group additions.

Since this is a public forum, we will hide your personal identifiable information, and I have sent that image of yours containing your personal identifiable information in a private message so we can work together to resolve the issue. Also, please check your private message in case you want to share another screenshot to avoid leaking your PII by click on the Private Message button as show below
