I can't accept a Microsoft Teams chat request

I've tried many times to accept a chat request from a guy I know, but it refuses to allow me to accept and says "Something went wrong. Please try again."

I have tried on mobile, on desktop, and even someone else's computer and I still get the same error.

    Hi!

Does the issue occur specifically with this chat, or with any chat you receive?

Is your email personal, corporate, or educational?

If it is from an organization, does the issue happen with another colleague?

A chat might be blocked for some reason, or your account itself might be blocked from accessing the chat. If the problem is specific to this chat, the sender should delete the chat and send a new request via teams.live.com.

It is also important to check if the user is blocked under Settings > Privacy > Manage blocked contacts.

Does your friend's name appear correctly in the request, or does it show Unknown User?

Are you having this problem only with this particular person, or with other chat requests as well?

Since you've already tried multiple devices and still get the same error, I don't believe this is a local installation issue.

Let's try something different. Instead of accepting his chat request, open Teams, select New chat, enter your friend's Microsoft account email address, and try sending him a message directly. Does it allow it and can you friend get it?
