- If the app came from Microsoft Store, update it through Store instead of the program installer
- Open Microsoft Store
- Select Library > Get updates
- If needed, reinstall the app from Library
- Make sure Windows 11 is fully updated
- Go to Start > Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates
- Install any available updates
- Then restart if prompted with Update and restart or Update and shut down
- If the app is suspicious or may be malware, scan before removing or reinstalling it Use Windows Security to run a scan first.
If the installer window opens and closes immediately for multiple desktop programs, the most direct path is:
- restart the PC,
- update Windows,
- try Repair/Reset for the affected app if available,
- then uninstall and reinstall the app.
If the problem affects only one program after that, contact that app’s publisher for support.
