A family of Microsoft word processing software products for creating web, email, and print documents.
For downloading a copy from Word for the web, use File > Create a Copy > Download a copy. The downloaded file is normally saved to the Downloads folder.
If the document is already in OneDrive, a shortcut is to download it directly from OneDrive:
- Select or hover over the file
- Open ... / Show more actions if shown
- Select Download
If the Download button is missing in OneDrive after refreshing the page while viewing a folder, go up one folder level and return, or close that browser tab and open the folder again.
Important limits and behaviors in OneDrive/SharePoint:
- Files cannot be downloaded directly from the Shared view; the file must be opened and a copy saved to a chosen location.
- Multiple download limits apply in some environments.
- In OneDrive for work or school, Internet Explorer cannot download folders or multiple files.
If the issue happened specifically between December 11, 2023 and December 14, 2023 across all browsers, Microsoft documented a download problem caused by a Microsoft Purview DLP feature implementation. That issue affected web app downloads in all browsers, including Microsoft Edge, and did not affect home users.
For the PDF/print formatting issue, the supported guidance available here is to try Print to PDF instead of saving/exporting directly to PDF:
- Go to File > Print.
- In the PDF options, select Save as PDF.
Also standardize fonts in the document. The documented recommendation is to use common fonts such as Times New Roman, Arial, or Calibri.
