    Thanks for the screenshot.

What you are seeing there is the normal Microsoft Photos viewer, not the editor. The "Edit" button at the upper-left only opens the editing tools when you select it.

If you mean you no longer want JPEG files to open in Microsoft Photos at all, right-click a JPEG file > "Open with" > "Choose another app," select the app you prefer, then choose "Always."

If that is not what you mean, what happens differently now compared with how JPEG files opened before?

    Thanks!

    Hi, @Carol Morgan

Do you mean when you double-click any JPEG file, Microsoft Photos opens it directly in the editing screen instead of the normal photo viewer?

If so, try repairing the Photos app:

    • Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
    • Find "Microsoft Photos" and select the three dots > "Advanced options."
    • Select "Repair" first and test again.
    • If it still opens directly in the editor, return there and select "Reset."

Also open Microsoft Store > Library and check for an update for Microsoft Photos.

If the issue still persists, does this happen with every JPEG file, and can you share a screenshot of the editor screen that opens automatically?

Click "Add comment" to let me know.

    Thanks!
