Purchased new laptop 9/21 and immediately had this update show up. Have been trying ever since but keep getting failed. I followed the information that if keep getting failed, pause update. Didn't help. Went to catalog and searched to do manual update, but there are several with the same update number KB5129195 26200.9457. Some say x64-based systems and some say arm64-based systems. How do I know which one I'm supposed to use?

Hi, open Settings >> System >> About and check System type. If it says “x64-based processor,” choose x64; if it says “ARM-based processor,” choose arm64.

Also match the Windows version shown under Windows specifications (24H2 or 25H2).

If it still fails, please share the exact error code shown in Windows Update.

Select the package matching the processor shown at Settings → System → About → Device specifications → System type:

    • “x64-based processor” → download the x64 package.
    • “ARM-based processor” → download the ARM64 package.

Do not select x64 merely because Windows says “64-bit operating system”; Windows 11 is always 64-bit, while the processor can be either x64 or ARM64.^1^

    Confirm the update version

On the same About page, check Windows specifications → Version:

    • Windows 11 25H2: KB5129195 updates the OS to 26200.9457.
    • Windows 11 24H2: KB5129195 updates the OS to 26100.9457.

KB5129195 applies to both versions; therefore, also select the Catalog entry matching the version displayed on the laptop.^2^

Install the Catalog packages in the required order

Pausing updates has already failed, so leave that path and use Microsoft's manual-install sequence:

    1. Open the Microsoft Update Catalog.
    2. Select the KB5129195 result matching both:
      • the installed version—24H2 or 25H2; and
      • the system type—x64 or ARM64.
    3. Download all MSU files offered for that matching entry.
    4. Place them in one folder, with no unrelated files.
    5. Install the KB5043080 checkpoint cumulative update first.
    6. Restart if requested.
    7. Install the KB5129195 target cumulative update second.
    8. Restart, then open Settings → Windows Update → Update history and confirm KB5129195 installed.

The order matters: Microsoft identifies KB5043080 as the required checkpoint package and instructs that checkpoint updates be installed before KB5129195. If Windows says KB5043080 is already installed, continue with KB5129195.^3^

Safer alternative if a newer update is offered

Because cumulative updates include earlier fixes, first check Settings → Windows Update → Check for updates. If Windows offers an update newer than KB5129195, install that latest update instead. Microsoft’s KB page recommends installing the latest update because it contains important improvements and issue resolutions.^3^

If the correctly matched manual packages still fail, note the exact error code under Settings → Windows Update → Update history, plus the Windows version, OS build, and system type. Those details distinguish a download/cache issue from a servicing failure; the matching Q&A guidance recommends collecting them before further repair steps.^4^
