Use the Microsoft account sign-in helper first. That is the supported path for a hacked Hotmail/Outlook.com account and can either guide through self-help recovery or offer the chance to talk to an agent.

    Recommended order:

    1. On a trusted PC, run a full antivirus scan before changing anything.
      • In Windows Security, open Virus and threat protection.
      • Select Scan options > Full scan > Scan now.
    2. Try to reset the password.
      • If the username and password are no longer working, use Recover your account.
      • Enter the email address, phone number, or Skype name used to sign in.
      • Check that the email domain is correct, such as .com vs .co.uk.
      • If the email is not recognized, try another alias or phone number linked to the account.
      • Choose where to receive the security code, enter the code, and set a new password.
    3. If the account is blocked because of unusual sign-in activity, unblock it by resetting the password.
    4. If sign-in works again, immediately review account settings that attackers often change:
      • connected accounts
      • forwarding
      • automatic replies Also review recent sign-in activity for the last 30 days.
    5. If password reset does not work, complete the Microsoft account recovery form.
      • Use a working email account that can receive updates about the recovery request.
      • Provide as much detail as possible.
      • For Hotmail/Outlook.com accounts, exact email subject lines and contact information can help.
    6. If the username is no longer found, contact support through the official support flow and state that the username has stopped working.

Important support limitation: if sign-in is not possible, Outlook.com support does not recover the account directly; the Microsoft account sign-in helper and recovery process must be used.
