I have pictures on my iphone and I am trying to move them to my onedrive. When I save to onedrive and select the folder, the exif data is stripped. If I email the picture to gmail, then download, the exif data is preserved.

Kindly please fix onedrive app so it does not strip exif data.

    Hello @Clifford Sanden

Regarding the EXIF data when moving photos to OneDrive, I tried to reproduce the behavior on my side. In my test, the EXIF data remained after uploading the photo to OneDrive, but it was not retained when saving the photo from email.

To better understand your situation, could you please confirm the following:

What is the original photo format, such as .JPG, .JPEG, or .HEIC?

When downloading the photo from OneDrive, are you using a PC or mobile device, and what is the file format after downloading?

Which iPhone model and iOS version are you currently using?

Was the EXIF data preserved normally when using the same process before?

You can also try uploading the original photo directly through the OneDrive mobile app and check whether the EXIF data is still retained.

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Hi @Clifford Sanden

This usually comes from the iPhone share sheet, not OneDrive itself. When you share a photo from the Photos app, iOS can hand over a copy without some of its metadata (location especially), depending on the share options. Emailing behaves differently, which is why Gmail keeps it.

Try these on one test photo:

    1. In Photos, select the picture and tap Share.
    2. At the top of the share sheet, tap Options. Turn Location on, and if you see All Photos Data, turn that on too.
    3. Now pick OneDrive and save to your folder, then check the EXIF on the uploaded file.
    4. If it's still missing, upload from inside the OneDrive app instead: open the folder, tap the + (Add) icon at the top, choose Upload, and pick the photos. This uses OneDrive's own uploader instead of the share sheet.

If you'd like the share-sheet behaviour changed for everyone, you can also send it to the OneDrive team from the app under Settings > Help & Feedback.

Which EXIF fields are you missing, just the location, or the date and camera details as well?

If this resolved your issue, please consider accepting it as the answer. If the metadata is still stripped after step 4, let me know and I'll be happy to keep helping.
