Request a refund for a windows app bought 14 hours ago with barely 1 hour of use, the app itself was not working as advertised, eating a lot of physical ram and slowing the laptop down. it did not provide expected performance

If the refund option is not given to you in the order history in your account, you need to reach out to support and explain that the app doesn't work as it is supposed to. They typically would grant the refund request. It just cannot be done here, as it is public community forum.

To get help, open the "Get Help" app on your computer (just search for it in the Start menu). or go to https://support.microsoft.com/contactus, Type "Billing" and press Enter. On the next screen, click "Contact support" at the bottom of the page, then choose "Windows" > "Manage my subscription". You’ll then see the option to chat with a Microsoft support agent who has access to your account to help review the issue.

Request an exception review from Microsoft Support, because Windows PC apps do not have a general self-service refund process and are refundable only when the offer or applicable law provides eligibility.[^1^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Get a refund for apps and games purchased from Microsoft Store | Microsoft Support")

    Request the refund

    1. Open Contact Microsoft customer support.^2^
    2. Under Microsoft technical support, select Get help.
    3. Sign in with the same personal Microsoft account used to buy the app.
    4. Enter Refund for a Microsoft Store Windows app.
    5. Choose the account/billing or Microsoft Store purchase category, then select the available option to contact support, such as chat.
    6. Give the agent:
      • The app name and order number.
      • The purchase time—approximately 14 hours ago.
      • The limited usage—approximately one hour.
      • That the app did not perform as advertised.
      • The observed excessive physical-memory use and resulting laptop slowdown.
      • A clear request for a refund exception.

Refund approval is not guaranteed: Microsoft states that digital goods, including PC apps, are not refundable unless the offer or applicable law says otherwise. The short ownership and usage period can be included in the request, but does not itself establish eligibility.[^1^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Get a refund for apps and games purchased from Microsoft Store | Microsoft Support")

    After submitting

If Microsoft approves the refund, check its progress in the applicable order history. Once shown as issued, the payment provider may still take several days to credit the money.^3^

Do not post the order number, payment details, or Microsoft account address in this public forum.
