    Hello Minh Minh,

The grey selection may not necessarily indicate an Edge error. Selected text can appear grey when the Edge window or text field is no longer active, for example, after switching to the Snipping Tool or another window.

Could you please check whether the highlight remains grey while Edge is active and you are selecting the text directly? Also, does the same behavior occur:

    • In a regular Edge window?
    • In other text fields or websites?
    • After changing between the Light and Dark themes?

Please also share your Edge version from Settings and more (…) > Help and feedback > About Microsoft Edge. This will help determine whether the behavior is related to window focus, the InPrivate theme, or a recent Edge update.

If the text remains grey only in InPrivate mode while Edge is active, you can report it through Settings and more (…) > Help and feedback > Send feedback so the Edge team can review the visual behavior. Thank you so much for your understanding.

Yes—this can be part of recent Microsoft Edge visual changes rather than an error.

Microsoft states that Edge is being updated with a refreshed design, including changes to layout, colors, spacing, controls, and other visual elements, and that these updates are introduced gradually. Because of that, not all users see the same interface at the same time.

There is also a reported Edge behavior where highlighted text color changed after an update, which indicates some highlight colors may no longer follow the previous accent-color behavior.

To check whether this is just a UI change and not a problem:

    1. In Edge, open Settings and more (…) > Settings > Appearance.
    2. Review available appearance options such as theme, toolbar layout, font size, and page zoom.
    3. Make sure Edge is updated to the latest version.
    4. If the change is affecting usability, submit feedback in Edge with Alt + Shift + I.

If everything else in Edge is working normally, this points more to a design/update change than to a browser error.
