Changing between multiple Microsoft Teams accounts within the app or browser
Dear @Krzysztof Zebrucki,
Thank you for reporting this.
While it's difficult to determine whether this is a product bug based on the information available, the red exclamation mark in Teams is commonly associated with an account that requires attention, such as re-authentication, an expired sign-in session, MFA requirements, or an issue with one of the signed-in accounts or connected organizations.
Since multiple users are affected, I would suggest checking a few things:
- Ask an affected user to click their profile picture in Teams and see whether any account shows a sign-in warning or requests re-authentication.
- Have users select Settings and more (...) > Check for updates and ensure they're running the latest Teams version.
- Verify whether the affected users recently experienced MFA prompts, password changes, Conditional Access changes, or expired guest-account sessions.
- If users are signed into multiple organizations or guest tenants, check whether one of those accounts is showing a warning and requires re-authentication. This has been reported by other users experiencing a similar red exclamation mark indicator.
- If you're a Microsoft 365 administrator, consider running the Teams sign-in diagnostic from the Admin Center for one of the affected users. Microsoft provides a Teams sign-in diagnostic specifically for investigating account authentication issues.
Could you let me know whether the users can click the warning and see a specific message or prompt? Also, are all affected users in the same tenant, or do they have multiple accounts/guest organizations configured in Teams?
That additional information may help determine whether this is an authentication-related issue or something broader.
Please understand that our initial response does not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.
Looking forward to hearing back from you with any updates or additional details.
Warm regards,
