Can't remove myself from family safety account because my email is the child account and the organiser

The laptop was previously used by a teacher at my school, I was given the laptop second-hand, and it had been factory reset before I received it.

When I try to download Google Chrome, I receive a message that says: "You'll need to ask to use this app" when I try to access the approval link, I receive an error saying, "Try a different URL". I believe my Microsoft account may be treated as a child account because I am under 18 (I'm 17). However, I cannot find a way to manage or remove the restricted myself.

I have tried accessing Microsoft Family Safety and the family setting on my account, but the only option available under my profile is "Edit profile picture". I cannot find an option to leave the family group or change restrictions.

My Gmail account is also listed as the administrator in Windows settings, but this does not allow me to bypass the parental approval request.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble.

However, as you mentioned that you are under the age of 18 you do still need to be in a family group. What you'll need to do is contact the Parent Account to request permission. Your email cannot be both the child and parent account as the parent account must be an adult account. You'll need to find that information to continue.
