My issue is I cannot shut down my computer. I get the message at the shut down button "There are currently no power options available."

How do I find the Windows policy named: Remove and prevent access to the Shut Down, Restart, Sleep and Hibenate commands.

So, I can disable that policy. I assume that is what the problem is, since I have tried everything else to shut down my computer. I really would like to shut down my computer.

Again, the message is: There are currently no power options available.... Help!

This information did not help me. I am running Windows 11 Home V-26H2.

    System does not recognize gpedit.msc.

    Can anyone help me?

    Dear Deborah,

Thank you for asking the forum community. That policy can hide the power options, but the message alone does not confirm it is enabled.

If you need to shut down now, save your work, press Windows + R, enter the following command, and press Enter:

    shutdown /s /t 0

This requests an immediate shutdown. If it fails, please note the exact error. Microsoft shutdown command documentation. Microsoft Learn

To check the policy on Windows 10 Pro, Enterprise, or Education:

    1. Press Windows + R, type gpedit.msc, and press Enter.
    2. Open User Configuration → Administrative Templates → Start Menu and Taskbar.
    3. Double-click Remove and prevent access to the Shut Down, Restart, Sleep, and Hibernate commands.
    4. If it is Enabled, change it to Disabled, then select Apply → OK.
    5. Save your work, sign out, and sign back in to check the power menu.

Microsoft documents that disabling this policy restores the menu commands it controls. If it is already Disabled or Not Configured, another cause needs investigation. Microsoft policy documentation. Microsoft Learn

Windows 10 Home does not include the Local Group Policy Editor, so gpedit.msc will not be available on that edition. If this is a work or school-managed computer, contact its administrator before changing policies. Microsoft Support

Please confirm your Windows edition under Settings → System → About, and whether this is your personal computer. That will help determine the next step.

If this helped, I’d appreciate a Like so others can find the answer more easily.
