Windows Server 2022 build 20348.5631 fails to redirect printers from MacOS Clients using the Windows app for Remote Desktop.

Same Printer attached to the same MacOS Tahoe 26.7.1 using the same Windows app version 11.4.1 is redirected correctly when using Remote Desktop to a Windows 11 Pro 26H2 build 26300.9457

    Hello @Luis Garcia

The most likely issue is a printer-redirection compatibility problem between the macOS Windows App RDP client and Windows Server 2022, potentially involving how the client negotiates or advertises printer-redirection capabilities during the initial RDP connection.

Since printer redirection works from Windows clients and also works when the Mac connects through an intermediate Windows 11 PC, the server's Easy Print configuration and Group Policy settings are less likely to be the primary cause.

The fact that the redirected printer works through the intermediate Windows 11 session suggests that the server can process redirected printers correctly, but it does not conclusively identify the failure in the direct macOS connection.

I recommend comparing the Windows App version, macOS version, and server-side PrintService and Remote Desktop Services logs during a failed direct connection. If the configuration is correct, the issue may require further investigation of RDP printer-redirection compatibility between the macOS client and Windows Server 2022.

    Hello @Luis Garcia ,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A!

Thank you for your patience, and taking the time to elaborate on your concerns.

Since printer redirection works from the same macOS client to Windows 11 but fails on Windows Server 2022, I recommend checking the server-side RDP printer redirection configuration first.

Verify that Do not allow client printer redirection is set to Disabled under Computer Configuration → Administrative Templates → Windows Components → Remote Desktop Services → Remote Desktop Session Host → Printer Redirection.

Enable Use Remote Desktop Easy Print printer driver first, then reconnect and test.

Check Event Viewer for printer redirection errors and confirm that the Print Spooler service is running.

For reference, see Microsoft's troubleshooting guide for printer redirection.

If the issue persists, please confirm whether the redirected printer is missing entirely or appears in the session but fails to print. This will help narrow down the cause.
