    Dear martha schultz,

I understand your concern. However, based on your description, as this is a community forum, I cannot directly access your Teams settings or investigate your device configuration. If possible, please follow the AI Answer's suggestions and check whether the issue is specific to your device, account, or Teams client.

Moreover, if the Microphone option is completely missing from Settings > Devices in Microsoft Teams, could you let me know:

    • Are you using the Teams desktop app, web browser version, or Teams on a mobile device?
    • Whether you are using Windows or Mac?
    • What type of account are you using: work/school account or personal Microsoft account (@hotmail.com/@outlook.com)?
    • Have you tested with a different device or a different account on the same device?
    • Do you see any microphone available in your operating system's sound settings outside of Teams?

If you're using the desktop app, you can also try signing out of Teams, restarting the app, and checking whether the microphone appears after reconnecting your audio device. For reference: Manage your device settings in Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Support

For more information, if you are using Windows, you can refer to this: Microphone not detected in Microsoft Teams

If the microphone setting is missing in Teams, check these places in order:

    1. In Teams desktop, open Settings and more > Settings > Devices. Under Audio settings, the Microphone dropdown should appear there.
    2. If joining a meeting, select the dropdown arrow next to Mic in the meeting window, then select More audio settings. Confirm the correct microphone is selected.
    3. In Windows, verify microphone access is enabled: Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone
      • Turn on Microphone access
      • Turn on Let apps access your microphone
      • Turn on Microsoft Teams (work or school)
      • Turn on Let desktop apps access your microphone If these were already on, toggle them off and back on, then restart the device.
    4. In Windows sound settings, verify the microphone is available: Start > Settings > System > Sound Under Input:
      • Select the mic in Choose a device for speaking or recording
      • If it is missing, select Add device
      • Make sure the mic volume is not muted
      • If needed, go to Advanced > More sound settings > Recording, right-click the mic, and select Enable
    5. Back in Teams, run Make a test call from Settings > Devices to confirm Teams detects the microphone.
    6. If using Teams on the web, check browser microphone permissions. For example in Edge: Settings and more > Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Microphone Turn on Ask before accessing (recommended).
    7. If using a USB or Bluetooth microphone and it still does not appear, unplug and plug it back in. For Bluetooth, make sure it is charged and not connected to another device.

If no microphone appears in Windows sound settings either, the issue is at the device or OS level rather than in Teams.
