Hello Panthers,
Since both the touchscreen and battery detection are affected, this may be related to missing or damaged Surface system drivers. I suggest identifying the exact Surface Go model in the Surface app, then manually installing the matching Surface driver and firmware package from Microsoft.
If the touchscreen is completely unresponsive, connect a USB or Bluetooth mouse so you can complete the steps below. Please let me know if the mouse does not work either.
First, check the exact Surface model:
- Select Start, type Surface, and open the Surface app.
- Find the device model shown in the app, such as Surface Go, Surface Go 2, Surface Go 3, or Surface Go 4.
- If the Surface app is unavailable, open the kickstand and check for the model information printed underneath it.
Next, follow the instructions under Manually update Surface drivers and firmware for Surface Go in this Microsoft article: Download drivers and firmware for Surface.
Select the package for the exact Surface Go model. If multiple .msi files are available, choose the one that matches the installed Windows version and OS build. The package includes the applicable Surface components, such as the battery, touchscreen, system, and firmware drivers, so you do not need to download each driver separately. Do not install a package intended for a different Surface model.
Let me know how it goes!
